When a man writes a love letter to his fiancée, you expect there to be swoon-worthy admirations and praises of her beauty and grace. Life coach and social media influencer Solomon Buchi is under fire for a message he wrote for the love of his life.
Solomon and his fiancée have been in a long-distance relationship for some time, and he recently penned a letter to her about his love and commitment to her. It wasn't accepted well by those who read it, however.
Solomon Buchi Criticized for Saying His Fiancée Is "Not the Most Beautiful Woman" Ever
What was meant to be a love note turned out to be a viral post that sparked a conversation about the way women should be treated in a relationship. "You’re not the most beautiful woman," Solomon wrote in the caption of several photos he shared of himself and his fiancée. "Neither are you the most intelligent woman, but like I’ve chosen to never find perfection in anyone else. I put my gaze on you, and with that commitment, we would mold ourselves for ourselves. Our perfection is in our commitment."
"Stating that you’re not the most beautiful/intelligent might sound like it’s not a compliment, yeah? But it’s a realistic base for real love," he continued. "Acknowledging that my woman isn’t the best, but I’m not looking for the best. I was looking for you and I found you. There’s no best, there is just someone you choose and see the best in them."
"This to me is the real love. Not the one that consoles itself in the faux reality that their partner is the most good looking, most intelligent, most successful person in the world. That’s disingenuous and doesn’t give room for love to thrive."
Many women in the comment section blasted him for not telling her that she's gorgeous and wonderful. While Solomon was clearly trying to write about his deep commitment and love for her that isn't rooted in the way she looks, it came off strange at best.
In his other social media posts, Solomon praises Arike and talks about his love for her. "Our love story is that of destiny. We both heard from God," he wrote in the caption of a different photo. "Even in the relationship, when I had doubts, God reaffirmed His word. Our love story is that of work, intentionality, godly values, focus, and determination. It is not a perfect love story, but it is a love story that’s like no other."
The couple announced their engagement on July 6. Solomon wrote that he was "proud to be your husband-to-be" and "beyond enthralled with you in my life." He has since turned off the comments on his Instagram, seemingly due to the criticism that was being thrown at him for his recent post about Arike.
