There have been some weird food trends on TikTok lately, including the pink sauce that a chef created (and even started selling). While it looks gross on various different types of food, people have sworn by it and claim that it tastes amazing with everything from fried chicken to burgers. However, there's a new TikTok food trend that looks much worse: NyQuil chicken.

NyQuil Chicken Is the Latest TikTok Trend, and the FDA Had to Issue an Official Warning Against It

Some users have shown clips of themselves cooking "sleepy chicken," which is just chicken sauteed in a pan with NyQuil. It looks as gross as you could imagine, and probably tastes even worse. Although most of the reactions to the videos have been of disgust, it's still disturbing to see just how many people are willingly choosing to try this dish.

The trend has gotten so popular that the FDA had to issue a warning about it, telling people that it's not safe to cook chicken in NyQuil (because apparently that needs to be said now).

"Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs," the FDA said in a warning on Tuesday. "Put simply: Someone could take a dangerously high amount of the cough and cold medicine without even realizing it."

We can't know for sure if people on TikTok are actually eating the "sleepy chicken" they're cooking or if they're just cooking it for the clicks and views, but either way, it's not a good idea to consider marinating your chicken in NyQuil.
