Even though Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show won’t end for another year, NBC has already decided who will replace her in their lineup — Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson.
Today, NBCUniversal announced that The Kelly Clarkson Show will replace The Ellen DeGeneres Show after it ends next season. Singer and host Kelly Clarkson will fill the coveted time slot starting in fall 2022 and will be billed as daytime TV’s headliner on NBC’s stations.
Clarkson’s talk show — which also features her performing covers of popular songs during the Kelly-oke segment — was renewed for two more seasons, taking it through 2023. The show is doing well ratings-wise, and viewers “love the positive energy the superstar brings to the series.”
Yesterday, The Kelly Clarkson Show earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show.
Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Local, said, “These are remarkable achievements for a talk show in its second season. We look forward to Ellen DeGeneres’ 19th season paired with Kelly Clarkson for what is sure to be a blockbuster year. By 2022, The Kelly Clarkson Show will be the star of our daytime entertainment schedules and an asset to our early afternoon newscasts.”
