Actress Emma Stone, 32, and her husband Dave McCary have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, this month.
The two met in 2016 on the set of Saturday Night Live, announced their engagement on social media in December 2019, and were quietly wed in 2020. Emma Stone is a very private celebrity, so the news of her entrance into motherhood was shared with People by sources close to her.
One source told People, "Emma and Dave have a great marriage and both wanted a child. They are a very grounded and private couple and were ready for a family. Emma is close to her family and good friends but not the type to flaunt her personal life. Dave respects that about her and is the same way. They have a great life together and support each other."
Another source commented, "Emma has been very excited about the baby. She has been private but said that she was feeling great. She always has a huge smile when she is with Dave."
A film industry connection said, "Emma and Dave have a strong and respectful marriage. A baby will add a new dimension of bliss for both of them."
In November 2018, Emma Stone shared how her desires to get married and to have children changed over time.
"My perspective about kids has changed as I've gotten older," Stone said. "I never babysat or anything. As a teenager, I was like, 'I'm never getting married, I'm never having kids.' And then I got older and I was like, 'I really want to get married, I really want to have kids'."
Stone added, "It's weird how much turning 30 crystallizes your life. Instead of just living the dreams that I had in my youth and getting to do the job that I love to do and making friends and going through all of that, it's like, now what do I actively want as an adult?"
It seems that Emma Stone wanted to be a mom, so she’s achieved her dream! Does this mean that the Oscar-winning actress will leave acting behind? Sources say it’s unlikely.
"She is a professional who loves and breathes her work," said the Stone source. "But if anyone can be good at both, it is Emma. She is a gifted person in every way."
You can see Emma Stone star in Disney’s Cruella on May 28 in theaters or on Disney+ with premier access.
