Drake Bell, singer and former child star of Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh,” pleaded guilty to a charge of felony attempted child endangerment on Wednesday.
In addition to the child endangerment charge, Jared “Drake” Bell, 34, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. Both charges are in relation to a girl he met online and who attended one of his concerts in Cleveland, OH. She was 15 years old at the time.
Tyler Sinclair, a spokesperson for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, said the attempted child endangerment charge relates to this concert, where Bell “violated his duty of care.”
Sinclair also said Bell and the girl had “developed a relationship” online, several years before she attended the concert. The disseminating harmful material charge is related to Bell having sent the girl “inappropriate social media messages.”
Sentencing is scheduled for July 12 in Cleveland, and the punishment ranges from probation to two years in prison. The girl, now an adult, will give a victim impact statement at the sentencing.
