Miley Cyrus' song "Flowers" is full of juicy easter eggs and secrets, and it's fueled endless theories on her past relationship with Liam Hemsworth – and, quite honestly, most of them make a lot of sense! The song dropped on January 13 (Liam's birthday) in Australia (his homeland), leading fans to believe that Miley's diss track was made for the Hunger Games actor.

The first couple of lyrics, "We were good, we were gold / Kinda dream that can't be sold / We were right 'til we weren't / Built a home and watched it burn," seems to reference Miley and Liam's home in Malibu, which sadly burned down in a 2018 wildfire. 

The chorus, "I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand / Talk to myself for hours, say things you don't understand / I can take myself dancing, and I can hold my own hand," mirrors Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man": "I should have bought you flowers and held your hand / Should have gave you all my hours when I had the chance / Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance."

Now, here's why this is kind of a big deal. Apparently, Liam dedicated the song "When I Was Your Man" to Miley when they were together. 

Miley also wears a suit jacket at the end of the music video, and it looks a lot like the same one Liam wore to the Avengers: Endgame premiere – the same event where he reportedly asked his then-wife to "behave for once" after she pretended to lick him. Some people actually think he mouthed, "You're gonna pay for it." 

Does “Flowers” Hint at Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth?

Okay, let's get to the juiciest of all fan theories. Lots of people on TikTok are speculating that Liam cheated with his Hunger Games costar, Jennifer Lawrence. 

At the 2012 LA premiere of Hunger Games, Jennifer stunned in a golden, shimmery dress paired with a loose ponytail. Liam was there too, of course, but so was Miley, so she was there herself to witness the Prabal Gurung dress Jennifer wore. Going back to the "Flowers" music video, Miley is seen wearing something very similar: a golden dress and a messy up-do! 

Here’s the thing, though. Liam’s new girlfriend, Gabriella Brooks, also wore an up-do and a light, golden dress on the red carpet back in November 2022. If “Flowers” threw shade at Gabriella, it would make more sense, since she reportedly used to be Miley’s backup dancer. 

What’s the Verdict? 

We don't know if there's any truth to these cheating rumors. Some people believe that Miley addressed these allegations back in 2019 on Twitter, writing, "But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled,I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP."

She added, "I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will." But it's important to note that she wrote this after people accused her of being unfaithful.

Believe it or not, this is not the first time Liam was speculated to have cheated on Miley. Shortly after the pair called it quits, the singer took to Instagram to post – what appears to be – a jab at her ex. "Happy Sunday from me & 2 stinky dogs," she wrote. "Waking up surrounded by animals is my favourite way to start a morning. I am immediately reminded to LOVE without conditions.... the best part about animals is that they are careless about the details. They live by the golden rule ... Love & Be Loved."

Here's where it gets interesting. Miley finishes with, "Nothing in between. No questions regarding wealth, career, talents, race, age, sex ....They love back 100X .... all they ask for is to be cared for in exchange for loyalty, reliability, and faithfulness. (reminds me of someone)."
