Britney Spears Gets Engaged To Longtime Boyfriend Sam Asghari

Britney Spears and her boyfriend Sam Asghari, whom she met in 2016 on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video, shared the news of their engagement on Instagram yesterday. 

In a short video, Britney shows off her custom diamond ring. Asghari asks Britney if she likes it, to which she enthusiastically responds “Yes!”. Britney wrote in the caption, “I can’t f*cking believe it!!!!!”

Asghari worked with New York City jewelers Forever Diamonds to create the custom engagement ring. He “selected a 4 carat round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting. He enhanced this timeless floating solitaire design with pavé detailing on the bridge and flush set diamonds on the prongs and basket, adding a sentimental touch by engraving ‘Lioness,’ his personal nickname for her, on the inside of the band.”

Asghari also shared an engagement announcement on Instagram. He posted a photo of he and Britney kissing that features the ring in the foreground.

As the congratulations rolled in, so did the advice. The Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer commented on Britney’s post: “Make him sign a prenup.”

Asghari had a couple of things to say to that. He directly replied to Spencer with the 100 emoji. 

But he also responded via his Instagram story with a bit of humor, writing, “Thank you everyone who is concerned about the prenup! Of course we're getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day."

Britney’s engagement – and we’re assuming her soon-to-be nuptials – are likely in response to her father, Jamie Spears, filing to end the 13-year conservatorship that Britney has been fighting for several years now.
